Toots & Trots / Does it matter?
Wheat bran or psyllium husk for regularity — does it matter?
Bran is the fibre most people were brought up on, and it's the harder of the two here on both counts: it's coarse insoluble roughage and it carries wheat fructans as well. Psyllium is soluble, so it forms a gel rather than adding scratchy bulk. They're both fibre and they pull in genuinely different directions, which is worth knowing before you top up the cereal.
Scores use a standard reference serving via the GASP model. Individual tolerance varies.
Yes — mainly because of particle load.
If visible roughage or residue in output is a problem for you, Psyllium husk is worth trying. If you're tolerating Wheat bran without issues, the difference may not show up for you personally.
