Açaí (frozen purée)

Fruits

A dark purple Amazonian berry, sold here as frozen unsweetened purée packs for smoothies and açaí bowls. It's low in sugar but unusually fatty for a fruit, and it's puréed with the skins in, so the fat and the fine skin fibre are the parts that matter for a pouch. Watch the extras too — many shop-bought bowls and bottled açaí drinks add sugar or guaraná, which brings caffeine.
